Boots, a once-unwanted kitten now grown into a full-time farm cat, has become the unofficial third guardian at the ranch — mostly by climbing onto Olaf and Thor and refusing to leave. A recent video of the trio has racked up nearly 250,000 views, showing Boots kneading away on the dogs’ backs like he’s clocking in for a shift.

Great Pyrenees are bred for exactly this kind of thing — enormous, patient, and seemingly incapable of holding a grudge against anything smaller than a wolf. Boots simply found the loophole.

At one point in the video, Olaf stands up to reposition himself, and Boots slides off his back with the practiced ease of someone who has done this a thousand times before. Neither dog seems to mind losing a portion of their body to a cat roughly one-tenth their size.

According to the Great Pyrenees Club of America, the breed’s calm temperament and protective instincts, developed over centuries of guarding livestock, tend to extend naturally to smaller animals introduced to the household — including, apparently, cats who treat 100-pound dogs as personal recliners.

Boots now spends his days as just another member of the flock the dogs are sworn to protect, which functionally means his job is to nap on them.
