Back in May, an Instagram reel showed a golden retriever named Ollie and an orange cat named Cilio. At first, the cat could not stand the dog. By the end, the dog was using the cat’s belly as a pillow.
Ollie is a fluffy golden retriever, and Cilio is an orange cat. Their owner calls them brothers, and the pair have their own Instagram account, @goldenbearollie.
The reel starts when Ollie was a puppy. He was all energy, and he bounced at Cilio. As the video tells it, Cilio’s reaction was pretty clear: why is this loud, fluffy thing bouncing at me? He swatted once, then turned around and walked away.
Then the video jumps ahead, and the two of them are asleep on top of each other.
Cilio stretches out across Ollie’s back. Ollie rests a paw over Cilio. At one point Ollie has his head on the cat’s belly, as if it were a pillow. The reel had more than 33,000 likes when DogTime wrote about it on May 27, and commenters called the pair “total goals.”
It is a good reminder that a dog and a cat do not have to like each other on day one. Sometimes it takes a swat, a long walk away, and a little time.
